Kurt Vonnegut reviewed by Harlan Ellison, 1969,” dug out of the L. A. Times’ archives, is Ellison’s review of Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five when it was originally published, presented by way of introduction to the newspaper’s publication of “Look at the Birdie,” the title story from the recently published collection by Vonnegut .

“Look at the Birdie” is vintage Vonnegut, perhaps a bit darker than usual, a sardonically comic short, telling of a brief encounter with a casually, cleverly and murderously mad blackmailer, and his equally mad wife, in a bar.
